World's Oldest Person Misao Okawa Dies At 117

Misao Okawa, a Japanese woman who was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's oldest living person, died of natural causes at the age of 117 early morning Wednesday at a nursing home in Osaka, Jiji Press reported.



Born on 5th March 1898 at a kimono shop in Osaka City, she used to say the key to a long life is eating delicious food, getting eight hours sleep every night and "living slowly". Her favorite food was mackerel sushi known in Japan as Saba Sushi.



In her birth year 1989, the Spanish-American War occurred in the Philippines.
