Salvador Dali Painting Has Inspired Srijit Mukherjee's Next Film

555 One of the works of Spanish painter Salvador Dali has inspired National Award winning director Srijit Mukherji to make his next Bengali film 'Nirbaak' (Speech-less).

"The idea came when I was visiting a museum with a painting of Salvador Dali. It had a tree which formed the face of a human being. It made me think how would I feel if a tree possesses the same qualities I had. That is how the story was born," Mukherji told reporters here today.

The film, which releases this Friday, is the Bengali film debut of Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen.

It weaves four stories of relationships between a tree and a woman, corpse and morgue attendant, man's love with himself and a dog's relationship with his master.

Mukherji, who recently got the National Film Awards for his last release 'Chatushkone' said one part of the film's story came from the painting and the rest started coming to his mind gradually.

"It is a difficult film for me because I have left my comfort zone and ventured into a new arena. This time it is more visual," the director said.

Sen said all the four stories in the film have one entity which can't speak. "The relationships are spiritual," she said.
