Bodycam Shows Teen Rescued From Icy Pond

555 Parker, CO - One of the three teenage boys pulled from an icy retention pond Thursday afternoon has died, Parker Police confirm. The two others remain in the hospital. One of them is "doing well," according to Parker Police, and the other is receiving treatment. All three were students at Legend High School. The boy who died was underwater for more than 35 minutes before rescuers were able to pull him out. A nearby resident first called police about the incident at 4:26 p.m. Parker Police spokesperson Chris Peters said officers were there within five minutes. The first officer to arrive saw one teen in the water, hanging onto a chunk of ice. The officer waded waist deep into the water and used a tree branch to pull the teen to safety. Peters says that boy was struggling but conscious. That teen was released from the hospital Thursday evening. A second teen was rescued shortly thereafter after South Metro Fire Rescue arrived on the scene. He was taken to an area hospital too and was later airlifted to Children's Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. Thirty-five minutes after the initial call, the third boy was pulled from the not-quite-iced-over pond and rushed to the hospital, Peters says. Authorities confirmed he had died a few hours later.
