NYPD Traffic cops refuse to ticket cop's illegally parked car

555 Normally anyone who parks closer than 15 feet to this fire hydrant gets a ticket within 1-2 hours. Cops drive up and down this street all the time. And a small tree that is conveniently planted 15 feet from the hydrant makes it very obvious when someone parks too close. This black SUV had been parked there for a while, and I was wondering why it hadn't attracted a ticket yet. Being the end of the month and all - the traffic cops have a quota to fill. Well it turns out that the black SUV has a special "Police Permit Parking Plate". This is basically a cop's personal car, and this permit allows him park without feeding a meter. Or in a special "police vehicles only" zone. It does not allow a cop to block a hydrant, or park in an illegal spot. I saw a couple of police vehicles (NY meter maids drive Prius'), when I was walking near the car that was blocking the hydrant. This video is the result. http://ift.tt/1JPjr8L
