Clinton and Trump throw political punches in TV debate

555 US presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump clashed over the economy, jobs and foreign policy in an often heated first televised presidential debate in New York. They may have begun with friendly handshakes but soon they zeroed in on issues seen as weaknesses. As soon as she releases them, I will release my tax returns and that's against my lawyers, they say: don't do it," said Trump. But Clinton wouldn't let it go that easily: "Why won't he release his his tax returns? I think there are maybe a couple of reasons. First: maybe he's not as rich as he says he is. Second maybe he is not as charitable as he claims to be. Or maybe he does not want the American people - all of you watching tonight - to know that he has paid nothing in federal taxes." Clinton, a former secretary of state, and Trump, a real estate tycoon, also slammed each other over their suitability for the job of president. "His (Trump) cavalier attitude about nuclear weapons is so deeply troubling. So a man who can be provoked by a tweet should not have his fingers anywhere near the nuclear codes." "She (Clinton) does not have the look, she does not have the stamina, I said she does not have the stamina and I don't believe that she does have the stamina to be president of this country.."
