Deputy Shoots Her Finger, Kills Pit Bull Following Attack

555 Hudson, Fl - A Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputy is recovering after shooting herself in the finger when forced to defend herself from an attacking pit bull dog. The deputy was attempting to contact the dog's owner following the mauling of a homeless man when she was attacked. The same dog who was accused in the earlier attack apparently broke from its leash when the deputy approached the property asking for the owner. She saw the dog approach her and said "You better stay there, brother" before the dog started to run and lunge at the deputy. The dog grabbed at the deputy's pants leg, which caused her to fall to the ground. In response to the aggressive dog, the deputy drew her handgun and fired two shots at the dog. A bullet also grazed the deputy's finger, though she initially believed that she shot her finger off. The deputy was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
