West Covina Officer Tackles Man with Baseball Bat at Police Station

555 A police officer tackled a man with a baseball bat who showed up at a city police station Monday morning and took a few swings at station's front windows. Christopher Rivas, 28 of West Covina, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, officials said on Facebook. Surveillance video was taken at 10:18 a.m. shows a man police say was Rivas walking up to the front of the department and swinging at the windows with the aluminum bat several times. Officers responded from inside the police station as the suspect walked up to the entryway while repeatedly swinging and striking the glass entry doors. The officer who ultimately apprehended the man was outside the building and saw what was happening. He ran up to the suspect, tackling him to the ground. Rivas was taken into custody and suffered minor injuries from the fall, officials said.
