A bit of Sunday gliding

555 I thought I'd promote this fun and affordable activity with a short clip of my mediocre gliding ability! What's going on? Well, our gliding site is a "hill site"; which means it's right next to a cliff that the wind blows against, providing a source of lift. Only yesterday, it wasn't really providing much lift; resulting in a somewhat hastily made landing (you normally start your circuit to land at around 900ft. I committed the decision at just over 500ft. Making turns below 300ft is considered naughty). Gliders are unpowered aircraft. It's a bit like a car without an engine or bicycle without pedals; only you can often go for hundreds of kilometres and fly for hours, simply by circling under cumulus clouds (or flying above cliffs, when the wind decides to bloody work!)
