Apple Valley Police Chase Ends in Deadly Crash

555 Apple Valley police released dash camera video of an October high-speed pursuit ended in a deadly crash that killed the suspect and an innocent woman. The video shows a van traveling at high speeds through residential areas of Apple Valley and Burnsville before ultimately crashing at the intersection of County Road 5 and 131st Street West. The suspect, identified as Matthew Vogel, died after hitting Letica Ocampo in the intersection. While the department is defending the decision to pursue Vogel as he fled from police, Capt. Nick Francis said administration is looking at whether standard operating procedures need to change.
