Drunk Driver Slams Into Police Cruiser

555 Washington Township, MI - A Macomb County Sheriff's Department deputy is recovering after being involved in an accident with an alleged drunk driver. Officials say the 17-year veteran was traveling southbound on Van Dyke at 29 Mile Road when the driver of a 2010 Ford Edge blew through a red light. The deputy was not able to stop in time and hit the Edge. The deputy was taken from the scene in an ambulance to Troy Beaumont Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
