555 The officers' actions in the July 23 officer-involved shooting in Chico, that left Tyler Rushing dead, were found justified after an extensive investigation by the Butte County Officer-Involved Shooting/Critical Incident Protocol Team. The incident, which took place at the Mid Valley Title Company located at 601 Main Street in Chico, began when a private security guard was checking the source of a burglar alarm going off at the business at 10:48 p.m. At approximately 11:00 p.m., the Chico Police Department learned the guard had been attacked and stabbed and that the guard had fired his weapon at the attacker.
