Workers make final checks on China's new power line

555 Stretching almost a kilometre across China's Yellow River, these brave maintenance workers edge out along the world's highest voltage power line. 16 traction wires of more than a thousand kilovolts were installed on Monday, linking two transmission towers in China's north west Gansu province. Three hundred metres above ground level, workers carried out final checks on Saturday before the cables go live. It's part of the longest transmission line in China reaching almost three and a half kilometres long. The project aims to bring more wind and solar power to central and eastern parts of China.
