NJ Cop Charged After Punching Suspect in The Face While in Cuffs

555 New Brunswick, NJ - A video of an incident involving a Piscataway police officer shows a handcuffed suspect being struck in the face with a closed fist in the back seat of a patrol car. The incident occurs just after the suspect is heard saying, "I'm going to kill all you," allegedly referring to police officers. At that point, the police vehicle pulls over, the back door is opened by an officer, who leans in and strikes the suspect in the face, the video shows. The suspect can be heard saying he was "punched in the face" by the officer. Piscataway Police Officer Todd Ritter, 54, of Millstone (Monmouth), has been charged with assaulting the suspect in his patrol car and tampering with official records to cover up the alleged wrongdoing.
