Chickens destroy a mole

555 Who needs a cat when you have chickens. Chickens in my back yard found a mole while scratching for snacks in the garden. They pecked and tossed it around until it stopped moving. I wonder what the biological reason is for this behavior. Maybe it has something to do with protecting their eggs. All though a mole would not disturb their nest, a rat would and has.
