Inmates' daring laundry cart escape from Lincoln prison

Armon Dixon and Timothy Clausen escaped LCC in a prison laundry truck at 9:12 a.m. June 10 and were able to cut a hole in its roof, climbing out when it stopped eight minutes later at U.S. 77 and Warlick Boulevard. With the help of another inmate, the pair hide in a cart, are loaded onto the truck and evade detection during multiple precautionary inspections by prison staff Just west of town, the pair punched a hole through the roof of the truck near Wilderness Park. They were spotted running near U.S. 77 and Warlick Boulevard before they stole a construction vehicle from a church parking lot and got into a chase with Nebraska State Patrol troopers. Dashboard camera shows a trooper briefly cornering them on a cul-de-sac on Glenarbor Circle, but the inmates evade arrest and drive away. The chase continued onto Warlick Boulevard, through the Nebraska 2 intersection at the Nebraska State Penitentiary, through parked cars on Hudson Street and back onto 13th Street until officers called it off because speeds were nearing 65 mph south of downtown. A few minutes later, at 18th and F streets, the stolen vehicle crashed into a parked SUV, and the two men ran. Both inmates are incarcerated at the Nebraska State Penitentiary.
