Police officer helps to rescue child caught in floodwater

555 What happened in the Village of Jackson the afternoon of August 27th shows the powers of rushing waters after heavy rains, and the brave actions people take to help rescue a person in need. Jackson Police sharing dash cam of Officer Kyle Henning patrolling the Green Valley manufactured home community when he noticed several people by a culvert where a creek flows through it. The creek was flooded from Sunday night's heavy rains, which were over five inches in the community. The officer found three adults were trying to rescue a nine-year-old boy who was playing in the water and was swept by the current underwater into the culvert. Officer Henning is seen rushing to the culvert and assisted the adults. When the four adults were unable to rescue the child, the officer laid in the water and applied a bear hug on the child. With the other adults pulling on him, the child was freed from the water. The child was uninjured and returned to his parents. Police thank Officer Henning and the three adults, Kyle Brierton, Lee Olson, and Rashelle Peters for their quick actions that help saved the child's life. They are also reminding people to avoid any floodwaters, since they are not safe in any conditions.
