Police release surveillance video showing beating of dog

555 Friday, police released showing a man punching and kicking a dog inside a Warren food store. Police arrested Jeffrey Wells after the incident, charging him with cruelty to companion . Officers were called to Fastlane Food Store on Wednesday, where they found items were thrown across the store. Surveillance from the store shows a man that police say is Wells confronting a clerk and throwing items around the store. The clerk then gets into a fist fight with the man. Police said the clerk told officers that he was trying to help the dog, which he said Wells was "stomping" and punching. After Wells was arrested, he told police that the dog was a service animal and that he was "training it" for a veteran.
