ATM Robber Climbs Through Driver's Window

555 Tampa, FL - A brazen robber who crawled through a driver's window at an ATM in Hillsborough County on Wednesday was arrested. According to the sheriff's office, the suspect, identified as Jerome Marciniak, 59, approached the victim at 8 a.m. at the Regions Bank on Hillsborough Avenue West. The victim was sitting in the driver's seat at a drive-through ATM. Marciniak brandished a 4" pocket knife and demanded the victim's money. After the victim refused to give him any money, Marciniak leaned into the open driver's side window and demanded the victim give him the car. He crawled through the open driver's side window, crawled over the victim and maneuvered himself onto the passenger seat. Marciniak then removed the keys from the ignition while waving the knife at the victim. The victim regained control of the keys and struggled with the suspect over the knife. Marciniak grabbed a $1 bill from the passenger floorboard and fled out the passenger side door. The victim suffered lacerations to her right hand and fingers. Detectives found Marciniak in the area of Osbourne Avenue and 17th Street, where he was apprehended without incident. Marciniak was charged with armed burglary with a deadly weapon, armed burglary of a conveyance with battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
