Attempted Carjacking, Foiled By Good Samaritans

555 Detroit police are asking for tips in identifying a suspect wanted for an attempted carjacking last week. Surveillance video from across the street captured some scary moments for a woman as she was getting into her parked car outside of Citizens Bank in the 700 block of Woodward Avenue, near Campus Martius Park shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday. Just as she was sitting down in her car, a man ran up to her open car door and started yelling for her to move into the passenger seat. When she refused, the man tried to push the victim over to the other side, but she pushed back. As the two struggled, the car was put into drive and it crashed into a parked sedan in front of it, at a low speed. That's when an unknown citizen walking by saw that the woman was in danger and jumped into action, trying to save the her from the suspect. Seconds later, two more unknown citizens are seen coming to the rescue, as running across the street to confront the suspect. It appears the first good samaritan was shoved into the open passenger side door and knocked to the ground before the others chased the suspect away. Police sais he suspect fled the scene on foot, heading north on Woodward. The man described as approximately 6'0" tall, 200 lbs. He was last seen wearing a plaid gray and black coat, with a black hat.
