Florida man punches public defender during court hearing

555 A man facing a battery charge in Florida didn't himself any favors Wednesday when he slugged a public defender in the head during a court appearance. William Green got out of his seat at the Broward County bond court, approached the lawyer who was looking down at papers and delivered the haymaker, which knocked her to the floor. A defendant who was at the podium ran out of the way as corrections officers tackled Green. Judge Jackie Powell asked the stunned attorney if she was all right before calling a recess. A spokesman for the Broward County public defender's office said the lawyer was taken to Broward Health Medical Center. According to court records, Green, 27, was arrested Tuesday on a battery charge.
