One juvenile charged in monument destruction

555 Investigators made one arrest Thursday involving a case of a monument being toppled in Johnson City. A juvenile was identified from surveillance footage released to the public regarding the destruction of the landmark located inside the Duncan's Retreat housing area, police said Thursday. Police did not specify which juvenile was taken into custody. Two suspects were seen on video--one kicking over the monument then another juvenile trying to pick it up two hours later. The monument was erected in 1904 to honor Jesse Duncan, the first white man in Tennessee to be killed by Indians in the 1700s.
