Bodycam Videos Show Shootout Between Chicago Police and Armed Suspect

555 Newly released bodycam videos show a shootout between Chicago police and a man last February in the South Shore neighborhood. The Civilian Police Oversight Agency released five bodycam videos Friday afternoon that shows five different officer's perspectives of a shootout with an armed suspect. A total of 44 shell casings were recovered at the scene, according to COPA. Flamingo Jones, 38, was struck three times and sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the Feb. 26 shooting in the 7400 block of South Bennett. At 7:37 p.m., officers spotted Jones with a gun and followed him to the rear of a home, according to Chicago police and Chicago Fire Media Affairs. During an ensuing exchange of gunfire, Jones was struck in his side and foot. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, and a weapon was recovered at the scene, authorities said. Jones, a convicted felon, was ordered held without bail at Cook County Jail during a court hearing, Cook County court records show. He has an extensive criminal history. Officials with the Chicago Office of Police Accountability are investigating the use of force, agency spokesman Ephraim Eaddy said. Any officers involved in the shootout will be placed on administrative duties for 30 days, police said.
