Newton Area Officer Shot During Officer-Involved Shooting

I felt that it was important to stay in the video for this incident. @ 5:10 for those who want to get to the point @ 6:25 for dispatch audio @ 9:00 bodycam of the shooting On April 20, 2019, around 9:20 p.m., officers assigned to Newton Gang Enforcement Detail saw a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of 52nd Street and Holmes Avenue. The officers followed the vehicle till it came to a stop on 51st Street, west of Holmes Avenue. The sole occupant, the driver, exited and ran into the Pueblo Del Rio housing complex. The officers pursued the driver on foot, broadcasting they were chasing a man with a gun. As the officers continued their foot pursuit, a second male suspect, identified as 39-year-old Curley Lee Duff, fired a pistol at Police Officer II Enrique Trujillo, Serial No. 42259, who returned fire. Officer Trujillo and Duff were both struck by gunfire. Both received medical treatment at a local hospital. The pistol used by Duff was recovered by detectives. Detectives are still attempting to identify and locate the driver of the vehicle.
