Deltona grandma arrested at church after admitting slap of daughter

555 A 70-year-old Deltona grandmother was arrested at church after deputies said she admitted to slapping her adult daughter. Laura Falls, a 4-foot-8-inch woman with no criminal record, was transported from Deltona Lakes Baptist Church to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where she was held without bail overnight, according to an arrest report. She is charged with misdemeanor simple battery. Falls did not return a phone message Thursday. The mother-daughter argument was over Falls' refusal to take her grandchildren to Bible study. "It was a silly argument that got out of hand," said her daughter, Dawn Rigsby, 38, who called the Volusia County Sheriff's Office to report the incident. "I shouldn't have called."
