Police Chase Stolen Car ends in Crash

555 There were no serious injuries after a police pursuit with a man in a stolen car resulted in two separate crashes in Hawthorne Thursday morning, prompting a brief standoff that forced officers to fire bean bags rounds. Police told CBS2 the incident began before 7 a.m. when the suspect called 911 to report that he had been drinking, was carrying a knife and might hurt himself. When officers responded to his home, the suspect sped away in a Honda Accord, prompting a chase. The pursuit wound its way onto the westbound 105 Freeway before the suspect exited the freeway and drove onto surface streets. Officers were on the phone with the man during the 25-minute chase, attempting to deescalate the situation, police said.
