Houma Police have launched a criminal investigation after an officer was doused with water while responding to a call Sunday night. A video recorded by a bystander shows an unidentified Houma Police officer getting splashed with water while investigating a disturbance in the Mechanicville area. The incident occurred at 9 p.m. on Norman Street, police said. The video shows a crowd of people gathered around the officer and at least two people dousing him with water as he begins to walk away. Several bystanders laugh as a bucket of water is then hurled toward the officer's back. Houma Police Chief Dana Coleman said the incident is no laughing matter. The suspect or suspects who tossed the bucket could now be facing a battery charge, he said.
