Knife-wielding man fatally shot by police

555 At least one Riverside County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man wielding a knife Tuesday night along Bob Hope Drive near the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage, according to the sheriff's department. The man, whose name was not released, was rushed to a hospital by ambulance, Flores said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. No deputies were injured. Flores said the confrontation, from the time deputies arrived to the moment the man was shot, lasted about 10 minutes. She did not know how many times the man was shot or where on his body he was struck. Flores also did not know how many deputies were involved in the confrontation or how many fired their guns.
